Mrs. Nora Susan Woods, age 93, of St. Paul, Virginia passed away Wednesday (May 25, 2011) at her home. Born June 12, 1917 in Clifftop, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George Henry and Jessie Pearl Boggess Carte. She spent most of her life in the area and was a lifetime member of Outreach Temple in Wysor Valley, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Woods; five sons, Ernest Woods, Donald Woods and wife, Edna, Kyle Woods, Ricky Woods and wife, Pamela and Roy Woods; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Janice Carte and Jesse and Frances Carte; one son-in-law, Otis Wallace. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda Woods of Cleveland, Ohio and Michael and Sandra Woods of Honaker, Virginia; two daughters, Leona (Sally) Wallace of Honaker, Virginia and Jessie Calvert of St. Paul, Virginia; three daughters-in-law, Dorothy Woods of Catlett, Virginia, Linda Woods of Cleveland, Ohio and Wanda Batts of Honaker, Virginia; thirty-seven grandchildren, one hundred two great-grandchildren; eighty-great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday at Outreach Temple in Wysor Valley with Rev. Arvil Arwood and Rev. Ray Coleman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Outreach Temple, P.O. Box 87, Rowe, Virginia.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Saturday where a song service will be conducted at 7 PM.
