Obituary for Kester Wayne Wampler

Mr. Kester Wayne Wampler, age 63, of Hurricane Creek, Virginia passed away Tuesday (August 7, 2018) at his home. Born December 24, 1954 in Davenport, Virginia, he is the son of Mary Belle Wood and the late Elbert Wampler, Sr. Kester was a 1974 graduate of Council High School, a flagman for the Virginia Department of Transportation and a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors and working around the house as long as he was able. He spent hours listening to the radio, especially gospel singing, preaching. He enjoyed visits from pastors and spending time with his family. Although he has left a void behind and his loved ones mourn his loss, we are certain he is no longer in pain and is reunited with all those gone on before him. We take comfort in knowing he is happy listening to the Angels sing.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Wampler; several half-brothers and half-sisters; step father, Tolby Wood; and special brother-in-law, Milton Ratliff.
In addition to his mother, survivors include, three sisters, Glenda Ratliff, Regena Wampler, Pandora Kiser and husband, Scott; two nephews, Emory Ratliff and wife, Mary, Rodney Adam Ray and wife, Kate; two great-nieces, Alexia Ratliff and Chelsea Ratliff; great-nephew, Wade Ratliff; uncle and aunts, Raymond Johnson and wife Thelma, and Gay Johnson; sister-in-law, Nell Wampler; several cousins, friends and neighbors also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Carl Burmeier and Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wampler & Wood Cemetery near the home.
Pallbearers will be James Boyd, Kenny Johnson, Emory Ratliff, Scott Kiser, Chris Owens, Adam Ray, Randall Johnson, and James Barton.
Relatives and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday.
