Obituary for Steve Roger Elkins

Mr. Steve Elkins, age 77, of the Pine Creek section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (July 10, 2018) at a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born October 26, 1940 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Illas Jay and Delora Wells Elkins. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1959 graduate of Honaker High School and attended Pine Creek Pole Church. He had been employed as a brick mason, having been employed by Harold Newberry Construction, along with other construction companies. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Richlands, Virginia.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Alice Jo Elkins of the home; three sons, Tim Elkins of Columbus, Ohio, Jeff Elkins of Abingdon, Virginia, and Greg Elkins of Swords Creek; three grandchildren, Scott Elkins, Andy Elkins, and Kat DeCicco; two great-granddaughters, Penny Elkins and Lucy Elkins; one expected great-grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Faye Elkins and Tammy Lynn Shepherd; two step-granddaughters, Susan Luttrell and Kimberly Brewer; three nephews, Mark, Shane, and Adam.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Carter Wells officiating. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery at Swords Creek.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday.
