Mrs. Mary Frances Hess, age 68, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Friday (March 9, 2018) at her home. Born March 26, 1949 in Welch, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Frank Eugene and Maude Dale Fly. She had spent her early life in West Virginia, prior to moving to the Honaker area. She was a 1969 graduate of Honaker High School and attended Full Gospel Church at Belfast. She had formerly been employed at Family Drug in Lebanon, Virginia, but her most honored job was that of housewife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her animals, crafting, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, and four brothers, John Fly, Roy Fly, Billy Fly, and Eugene Fly.
Survivors include her husband of forty-seven years, Charles Edwin Hess of the home; three sons, Randall Anthony Hess of Honaker, Joseph Gene Hess of Virginia, and Mark Edwin Hess and wife, Martina of Honaker; five grandchildren, Michelle Hess, Hunter Hess, Patrick Hess, Garrett Hess, and Masen Hess; two sisters, Rhonda Lynn Myers and Jeannie Marie Mitchell both of Pittsboro, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Danny Altizer officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Hess, Patrick Hess, Gerald Justice, Jeff May, Devin Helton, Ron Sparks, and Jerry Justice.
Steve Crumpton will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home.
