Mrs. Delores Ithena Wilson Yates, age 71, of Elizabethton, Tennessee formerly of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (August 14, 2017) at her home. Born June 19, 1946 in Cleveland, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Homer Edward Wilson and Tilda Blanche Musick Wilson. A lifelong resident of the area prior to moving to Elizabethton, Tennessee, she was a member of the House of Prayer in Council, Virginia. She was a former employee of Honaker Mills and the Carriage House Restaurant, where she worked as a server and hostess. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Nolan B. Wilson, and one sister, Frances Fields McGlothlin.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Floyd Henry Yates of the home; four children, Angela Teresa Yates Haga of Bristol, Tennessee, Reba Yates Dunlap and husband, Randy of Elizabethton, John Edward Yates and wife, Lisa Renae of Piney Flats, Tennessee, and Brandy Louise Yates and fiancé, Dustin Ritchie of Bristol, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amanda Hope Haga, Amber Dawn Haga, Randa Lindsay Dunlap, and Zoey Arabella Watts; expected grandchild, Theodore Henry Ritchie; step-grandchildren, Michael Monette Ritchie and Gracie Jo Ritchie two sisters, Janice Evelyn Stevens and husband, Axley “Pete” of Honaker, Virginia and Bertha Belle Eaton and husband, Edward of Perry, Florida; one brother, Lloyd Stanley Wilson and wife, Wanda Sue of Honaker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Otis Musick officiating. Interment will follow in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Nolan Stevens, Peyton Stevens, Dustin Ritchie, Casey Fields, Thomas Gilbert, Jeff Stevens, Ryan Cook, and Jason Wilson.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
