Obituary for Donald Gene Street

Mr. Donald “Don” Gene Street, age 70, of the Back Valley Road section of Cleveland, Virginia, passed away Monday (March 6, 2017) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born June 14, 1946 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Carmen and Bertie Thompson Street. A lifelong resident of Russell County, he had formerly been employed as a logger and a coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Shirley Street of the home; two children, Gary Street of Cleveland and Jerry Street and wife, Amanda of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Courtney White and husband, Wesley, Hannah Street, and Austin Street; two great-grandchildren, Bryson White and Callie White; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. David Perkins and Rev. Wayne Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Street Cemetery near the home.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
