Mr. Earl Michael “Mike” Dye, age 56 of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (February 1, 2017) at his home. Born February 13, 1960 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Earl Harvey and Patty Lee Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1978 graduate of Honaker High School, where he was an avid athlete. He was of the Pentecostal faith and had formerly been employed as a coal miner at several area mines for many years. He had an infectious smile, would go out of his way to help anyone in need and had a love for animals. He was very motivated and always excelled in whatever he put his mind to.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Lona Smith Lee, and paternal grandparents, Earl Herman and Mary Alice Snyder Dye.
In addition to his parents, survivors include one sister, Lori Dye of Jonesborough, Tennessee; two brothers, Jeffery Dye and wife, Paula of Honaker and Scott Dye of Kingsport, Tennessee; special aunts, Annette Childress, Helen Keene and husband, Bob, Lora Gay Lee, and Narcie Dye; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mickey Hale and Rev. Mike Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Friday.
