Brenda Bailey Taylor, age 69, of Haymarket, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (January 31, 2017) in Prince William County, Virginia after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born June 12, 1947 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Ruby Stevens. A life-long Christian, she was a member of Honaker Church of God, where she found great joy ministering through her music as a local gospel singer. She grew up and went to school in Springfield, Virginia. After marriage, she became a resident of Russell County for eighteen years, where she raised her children and along with her husband, Dee, operated the Tastee Freeze in Honaker, Virginia. The last thirty-one years of her life, she resided in Prince William County, Virginia, where she was employed by the Prince William County School Cafeteria and physician offices. She was re-married to John Taylor in September of 1996 and they resided in Haymarket, Virginia. A beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, caring for her grandbabies was her most recent and most cherished role and where her legacy will carry on.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Wayne Stevens, her former husband, Dempsey Bailey, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Bonnie Bailey, and brothers-in-law, Douglas Bailey and Ralph Bailey.
Survivors include three children, Donna Pfost, Gina Jones, and Kevin Bailey; five grandchildren, Amanda Pfost, Brandon Pfost, Aidan Jones, Christian Jones, and Gavin Jones all of Haymarket, Virginia; her husband, John Taylor of Bisbee, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Rita Stevens of Rosedale, Rita Honaker and husband, Terry, Judy Bailey, and Mary Bailey all of Honaker, Joyce Farmer and husband, Clinton of Rosedale; and brother-in-law, Tony Bailey of Honaker; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at Lebanon, Virginia. She will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
