Billy Stewart  Rasnake
Mr. Billy Stewart Rasnake, age 76, of the Indian Creek section of Bee, Virginia, passed away Saturday (December 31, 2016) at his home. Born May 31, 1940 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Abraham and Lucy Boyd Rasnake. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a disabled coal miner, having been employed with Island Creek Coal Company for twenty-nine years, and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Boyd and Nancy Compton, three brothers, Earl Rasnake, Samuel Rasnake, and George Rasnake, and one granddaughter, Morgan Brooke Rasnake.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Hester Tiller Rasnake of the home; three sons, Mark Rasnake and wife, Melissa Rose Rasnake of Bristow, Virginia, Matthew Rasnake and wife, Teresa Anderson Rasnake of Lebanon, and Michael Rasnake and wife, Shelia Dale Rasnake of Winfield, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Zachary Rasnake, Haley Simmons, Andrew Rasnake, Joshua Rasnake, Sara Rasnake, Rebekah Rasnake, and Kaeli Rasnake; five sisters, Julia Gay O’Quinn of Bee, Joann Lindsey of West Virginia, Merle Plaster of Belfast, Inez Lester of Dayton, Ohio, and Freda Street of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Mack Rasnake of Bee, Stafford Rasnake of Haysi, and Johnny Rasnake of Abingdon; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. James Tiller officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the Honaker Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Rasnake, Joshua Rasnake, Andrew Rasnake, Eric Rasnake, Mike Plaster, Mike Plaster, Jr., Jeff Tiller, Craig Tiller, Keith O’Quinn, Roger Barton, Ronald Barton, Dereck Ray, Russell Street, and Andrew Street.
Honorary pallbearers will be Franklin O’Quinn, Hershell Perrigan, Buster O’Quinn, Dexter Ray, Jerry Fletcher, Lester Tiller, James Tiller, David Honaker, and Mack Rasnake.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday.
