Obituary for Thomas William Hess

Mr. Thomas William Hess, age 72, of the River Mountain section of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (December 28, 2016) at his home. Born October 24, 1944 in Russell County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Clarence and Charmie Hess. William retired from Jewell Smokeless and was a lifelong resident of Russell County.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Abraham Hess; two sisters, Phyllis Hess and Margaret Hess.
Survivors include his wife Mary Kathleen of the home; one son Thomas Gene Hess and wife, Reda of Grundy, Virginia; one daughter, Connie Sue Culbertson of Bandy, Virginia; two granddaughters Kaitlin Hess Dotson, and husband Justin of Vansant, Virginia, and Tapanga Culbertson of Richlands, Virginia; four sisters, Mary Easterling and husband, John of Lebanon, Virginia, Bernice Higgins of Moline, Illinois, Carolyn Lester and husband, James of Lebanon, Virginia, Betty Cook and Oscar Stiltner of Honaker; special friends, Don Justice and wife, Shirley of Oakwood, Virginia, Gus Sims and wife Pat of Rock Island, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel at Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Arvil Arwood Officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be James Lester, Don Justice, Justin Dotson, Jay Howard, Randy Howard, David Hess, Michael Riggs, and Walter Stacey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Crabtree, Gus Sims, and Marvin Price.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Friday at the Honaker Funeral Home.
