Mr. Jackie “Buck” Lee Compton, age 60, of the Combs Valley road section of Cleveland, Virginia, passed away Thursday (December 22, 2016) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born June 22, 1956 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Beulah “Boots” Lester Compton of Honaker, Virginia, and the late Foster Compton. A lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, he was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a disabled coal miner. An avid outdoorsman, he had a love for hunting, fishing, playing paintball with his friends, and was a grillmaster. He was quite the prankster and enjoyed life to the fullest.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of twelve years, Lynn Compton of the home; one son, Jeff Compton and wife, Brittany of Bristol, Virginia; one grandson, Brynden Compton; one step-son, Corey Mathis of Abingdon, Virginia; three sisters, Wilma Hess and husband, G.B. of Chestnut Ridge, Virginia, Gail Osborne and husband, Stanley of Honaker, and Sue Brushe and husband, James of Honaker; one brother, Gary Compton and wife, Bernice of Honaker; special friends, Kenny Dotson and Seth Stringer; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, December 26, 2016, at the Compton Family Cemetery, Stone Mountain Road, Honaker, Virginia. Military honors will be conducted.
