Obituary for Elsie June Musick (Phipps)

Mrs. Elsie Phipps Musick, age 86, of Rosedale, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (November 23, 2016) in a Lebanon, Virginia nursing facility. Born June 25, 1930 in Dickenson County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Elbert and Ethel Ramey Phipps. She had lived most of her life in the area, residing in Rosedale since 1963, and was a member of Elk Garden Methodist Church. She loved admiring birds, flowers, and anything to do with nature, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlis Musick, one son, Michael Lee Musick, four brothers, Eugene Phipps, Dean Phipps, George “G.D.” Phipps, and Norman “Buddy” Phipps, two sisters, Mildred Presley and Gladys Willis, and one grandson, Christopher Musick.
Survivors include four children, Barbara Sue Wallace and husband, Eddie of Rosedale, Kathy Sauls and husband, Elmer of Honaker, Gary Musick and wife, Debbie of Blackford, and Shannon Musick and wife, Shelly of Rosedale; one sister, Louise Kunkel of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Chad Wallace, Brent Musick, Brandon Musick, Jason Sauls, Melanie Dye, Matthew Musick, Derek Musick, and Christian Musick; five step-grandchildren, Brandon Hale, Jay Kropog, Aaron Kropog, Jennifer Kropog Young, Freddie Hafley; eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maple Grove Health and Rehab, Russell County Medical Center, C-Health, Home Nursing Company, Dr. Townsend, Dr. Wilson, Katie Miller, Samantha Lane, and Elizabeth Rumley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Wayne Baldwin officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Jason Sauls, Chad Wallace, Anthony Dye, Brandon Hale, Jordan Osborne, and Matt Musick.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday.
