Mr. Curvin Fletcher, age 75, of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (October 9, 2016) in a Richlands, Virginia, hospital. Born February 13, 1941 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Flemming Dock and Virgie Sanders Fletcher. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Over the years, he had earned a living as a farmer, logger and school bus driver, but had a hobby in wood-working which he was very talented.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Fletcher, one sister, Helen Gladys Fletcher, grandson, Adam Compton, brother-in-law, Hassell Tiller and two sisters-in-law, Leona Cumbo and Ann Stanley.
Survivors include his wife of seventeen years, June Fletcher of the home; two sisters, Carolyn Tiller of Rosedale and Eula Mae Fletcher of Beckley, West Virginia; two brothers, Douglas Fletcher and wife, Wanda of Honaker and James “Red” Fletcher and wife, Carrie of Belfast; two step-children, Wade Sykes and Tiesha Sykes; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Edward Tiller, and Rev. Robert Tiller officiating. Interment will follow in the Fletcher Family Cemetery near the home.
Pallbearers will be Wade Sykes, Jamie Fletcher, Bennie Sutherland, Charles Stevens, Boots Bostic, and Jack Thompson.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
