Harry Cowan “H.C.” Jackson, 90, of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at NHC Healthcare in Bristol, VA. He was born on July 11, 1926, a son of the late George C. and Eliza Jackson. A lifelong resident of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, VA, he was a 1944 graduate of Honaker High School and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Harry served in the U. S. Army during the World War II era and been employed as a foreman and supervisor for many years and retired from Appalachian Power Company in 1988.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth Owens Jackson; two daughters, Billie Hart of Abingdon, VA and Gaynelle Burse and husband, Peter of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Natalie Blevins and husband, Ed, Todd Hart and wife, Lisa, Brad Hart, Franklin Perry and wife, Hope, Kevin Burse and wife, Kyley, Steven Burse, Jason Owens, and Jarrod Owens; great-grandchildren, Kristen White and husband, Lee, Kelia Viers and husband, Jeremy, Hayley Blevins, Josh Perry, Lukas Hart, Jordan Hart, Shalee Hart, Brealyn Burse, Alyssa Burse, Aaron Hart, Paige Perry, Laci Jo Perry, and Keegan Perry; great great-granddaughter, Kylie Blevins; sister, Jo Sword; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at NHC Healthcare in Bristol, VA as well as Harry’s niece Linda Lovings and husband, Steve for all the love and care shown to Harry during his illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vonley Pruitt and Rev. Stephen Musick officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 12 Noon Thursday in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoluem, Lebanon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon, Virginia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Burse, Steven Burse, Todd Hart, Brad Hart, Ed Blevins, Lukas Hart, Jeremy Viers, and Lee White.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8p.m., on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Honaker Funeral Home, 4686 Red Bud Hwy Honaker, VA 24260.
