Obituary for Hubert Kenneth Yates

Mr. Hubert Kenneth Yates, age 77, of the Campbell Hollow Road section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Saturday (January 24, 2015) at his home. Born January 23, 1938 in Honaker, Virginia, he was the son of the late Everett and Daisy Price Yates. He had lived most of his life in the area and was a retired coal miner and timber cutter with Ray Logging Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Frances Ray Yates, two sons, Kenneth Yates, Sr. and Jerry Yates, one granddaughter, Mahala Yates, four brothers, Gilmer Yates, Carl Yates, Everett Yates, Jr., and Clovis Yates, and three sisters, Louise Flowers, Gaynell Stump, and Vernie Honaker.
Survivors include children, Linda Adkins and husband, Richard, Donna Tiller and husband, Leroy, Terry Yates, Dakota Yates, Whitney Yates, Kathy Boyd, Kenneth Yates, Jr. and wife, Tiffany all of Honaker, Gary Ray of Bristol, Virginia, Darrell Ray and wife, Bonnie of Lebanon, Virginia; three sisters, Margie Honaker of Honaker, Alice Kestner of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Ann Cumbow of Bristol, Tennessee; one brother, Clarence Yates of Council; special friends, Cliff Taylor, Doug Musick, and Trish Harris; twenty-two grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Denver Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Yates, Ricky Anderson, Carl Anderson, Kenneth Yates, Jr., Timmy Ray, Joshua Ray, and Ryan Honaker.
Relatives and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday.
