Mrs. Betty Boyd, age 79, of Buchanan County, Virginia passed away Thursday (December 20, 2018) at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Virginia following an extended illness. Born June 29, 1939 in Davenport, Virginia, she was a daughter Madison “Matt” and Priscilla Boyd Jackson. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and visiting and volunteering her time at local nursing homes. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to honor her memory are her two daughters, Kay Barton and husband, Clinton of Vansant, Virginia and Ginger Rife and husband, Randall of Belfast, Virginia; two granddaughters, Myra Jackson and husband, Jason of Vansant, Virginia and Amanda Elkins and husband, Channing and one great-grandson, Sawyer Reid Elkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Allen Gross. officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at Honaker Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to travel in the funeral procession.
Pallbearers will be Randall Rife, Clinton Barton, Jason Jackson, Channing Elkins, Tim Jackson and Kenneth Robinette.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Friday.
