Mrs. Shannon Regina Smith, age 67, of the Elk Garden section of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Monday (October 22, 2018) at her home. Born March 3, 1951 in Honaker, she was a daughter of the late Troy and Susie Honaker Stinson. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1969 graduate of Honaker High School, received her Bachelors’ Degree from Virginia Intermont, and her Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech. A devoted school teacher, she retired after twenty-seven years of educating at Honaker High School. She enjoyed loving and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Harmon and Meddrice Harris, her aunt Nellie Little and uncle Bud Honaker.
Survivors include her husband of forty-four years, Eddie Smith of the home; one sister, Patty Harmon and husband, Jessee of Lebanon; nephews, Dennis Russell Harris and wife, Debbie, David Harmon and wife, Carla, Brian Harmon and wife, Cheryl, and Drew Harmon and wife, Mary; niece, Kristi Silvis and husband, Bryan; several great-nephews and great-nieces also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Darrell Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday.
