Mr. Joey Lee Johnson, age 51, of the Belfast section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Saturday (October 6, 2018) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born August 10, 1967 in Maryland, he was a son of the late Elbert Johnson and Margie Victoria Johnson Crabtree. He had formerly been employed as a roofer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Frank Crabtree, two sisters, Rita Joyce Johnson and Hazel Janette Crabtree, and one brother, Willie Crabtree.
Survivors include one sister, Patty Collins and husband, Robert “Termite” of Bristol, Tennessee; two brothers, Eddie Crabtree and wife, Vicki of Bristol, Tennessee, and Billy Crabtree of Abingdon; his fiancée, Gladys Shelton of the home and her children, Jenny Love and husband, Nathan, Michael Shelton and wife, Tommie, and her grandchildren, Austin, Hannah, Adam “Bubby”, Brett and wife, Kayleen, and Derrick and wife, Kayla; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 5th floor nurses and staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery on the Combs Ridge section of Council, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Stevens, Stevie Johnson, Rekis Johnson, Glenn Johnson, Darrell Pruner, Darrell Vandyke, Michael Shelton, Nathan Love, and Noah Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Reynolds, Claude “Peck” Reynolds, and Henry Pruner.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
