Barney  Johnson
Mr. Barney Johnson, age 82, of Honaker, Virginia passed away Monday (August 27, 2018) at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Born September 13, 1935 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Robert and Carrie Stevens Johnson. A lifelong resident of the area, he had served his country in the United States Navy and had been employed as a coal miner at Pittston-Clinchfield Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Irene Stevens Johnson; one son, Charles Rutrough; two brothers, Brady Johnson and Ervin Johnson; one sister, Ethel Hess and a special brother-in-law, Guy Henry Lester.
Survivors include four children, Deborah Hess and husband, Michael of Elk Garden, Virginia; Lionel Johnson of Florida, Crystal Hess and husband, John of Lebanon, Virginia and Christopher Stevens and wife, Danielle of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Amber Crabtree and husband, Justin, Courtney White and husband, Wesley, Hannah Street and Holly Hess; four great-grandchildren, Bella Crabtree, Brynlee Crabtree, Bryson White and Callie White; two sisters, Pauline Feeser and Lola Lester both of Honaker, Virginia; special friend, Randy Musick and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday at the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia with Rev. Donna Johnson officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
