Mr. Roger D. Perkins, age 62, of the Wysor Valley section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (August 26, 2018) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born October 5, 1955 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Baxter and Hazel Dye Perkins. A lifelong resident of the Honaker area, he was a disabled coal miner, having been employed by Clinchfield Coal Company and more recently had worked Russell County as a substitute bus driver for the past seven years. He enjoyed hunting and attending church. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvie Perkins, Ferrell Perkins, and Leslie Perkins.
Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend, Del Perkins, each other’s right hand, holding onto God and each other; two sons, Jackie Honaker and wife, Cynthia, and Jamie Perkins and wife, Terry all of Honaker; three grandchildren, Morgan Honaker, Walker Perkins, and Gabriel Perkins; two sisters, Narcie Dye and Roberta Fields; special nieces and nephews, Melissa Barton ( whom he loved as his own), John Perkins (a part of Roger will always be with his nephew, John), Ricky and Sherry McGlothlin ; several nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Tommy Dye and Rev. Seth Shortridge officiating. Funeral procession for graveside services will be leaving at 11:00 AM Wednesday from the Honaker Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Perkins Cemetery at Wysor Valley section of Honaker, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Doug Perkins, John Perkins, Randy Blankenship, Ricky McGlothlin, Dallas Whited, and Jarred Hughes.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Co-Workers of Russell County School Bus Garage.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday.
