Larry Allen  Compton
Mr. Larry Allen Compton, age 60, of Davenport, Virginia, passed away Monday (August 6, 2018) at his home. Born October 21, 1957 in Roanoke, Virginia, he was a son of the late Byrd and Jean Compton. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a graduate of Council High School. He was a self-employed carpenter and had formerly been employed as a coal miner at Consol Energy. He enjoyed outdoor activities including, fishing and spending time with his family. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Crystal Compton, one brother, Randy Compton, and one sister, Shelia Ramsey; sister-in-law, Rebecca Compton and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Carol Compton; one daughter, Christine “Shelley” and her husband, Dr. Aaron Porter of Ormond by the Sea, Florida; son, Larry Byrd Compton of Davenport, Virginia; grandchildren, Gary “Bub” Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, both of Ormond by the Sea, Florida and Isabella Compton of Honaker, Virginia; brothers, Jerry Compton and wife, Diana, and Kenny Compton; aunts, Lorraine Farmer, Betsy Hess and husband, Bill; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted by 1:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia Rev. Roy Lee Wilson, Rev. Edward Tiller, and Rev. Andy Presley officiating. Interment will follow in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
