Mr. Garnett Lynn Hess, age 71, of Castlewood, Virginia, passed away Tuesday morning (June 12, 2018) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born May 6, 1947 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Maxie Stevens Hess. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Ervintown Freewill Baptist Church. He had formerly employed as a dairy farmer and loved to spend time on the riverbank fishing.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lucille Collins Hess; one brother, Sidney K. Hess and one sister, Rhoda Mae Herndon.
Survivors include one brother, Bobby Hess and wife, Charlotte of Castlewood, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Wayne Herndon and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Crawford and Rev. Teddy Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Farmer-Hill Cemetery at Duty, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Thursday.
