Obituary for Bernice Dennis (Blankenship)

Bernice Blankenship Dennis, age 73, of the Drill section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (June 12, 2018) at Russell County Medical Center following an extended illness. Born October 8, 1944 in Drill, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Blaine and Romia Mae Hess Blankenship. She lived most of her life in the Drill area and had spent the last two years as a resident of Hummingbird Retirement Villas in Lebanon, Virginia. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Valley View Freewill Baptist Church. A very loving and giving person, she was a faithful volunteer at the Honaker Christian Center for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby “Bunk” Blankenship and Benny Blankenship, two sisters, Lorene Blankenship and Geneva Blankenship Baldwin, and one special sister-in-law, Joyce Blankenship.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Mitchell and husband, Leonard of Lebanon, and Regina Clayburne and husband, Jerry Hopson of Drill; one sister, Phyllis Wilson and husband, Harless of Trenton, Florida; one sister-in-law, Lucy Blankenship; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery at Drill, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Thursday.
