Mr. Ronald Perry Keene, age 69, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away Tuesday (June 5, 2018) at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born June 22, 1948 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Charlie Andrew and Florence Ethel Elkins Keene. He had spent most of his life in Bristol, moving to North Carolina in the early 1990’s. He dedicated his life to the Lord at the Pine Creek Pole Church in Pine Creek, Virginia and had been a Christian for many years. He worked as a coal miner and a carpenter and enjoyed hiking, reading, writing, hunting and doing woodwork.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lovins Keene; one daughter, Florence Keene; one grandson, Christopher Hansen; one granddaughter, Siallr Jane Keene; one brother, Harley Keene and one sister, Betty Lou Meadows.
Survivors include two children, Rodney Perry Keene and wife, Joann of Linwood, North Carolina and Hope Priscilla Thrasher of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Rodney Perry Keene, Ethel Gail Keene, Jimmy Spivey, Anastasia Hansen, Isaiah Hansen, Molly Hansen, Priscilla Keene, Samantha Baughn and Christopher Keene; two brothers, Jim Keene of Beckley, West Virginia and Mitchell Keene of Oceana, West Virginia; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday at the Boyd Cemetery at Pine Creek, Virginia with Rev. Daniel Richardson officiating. Interment will follow.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
