Obituary for Raymond Belcher

Mr. Raymond Belcher, age 79, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Friday (May 11, 2018) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born December 30, 1938 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Curtis Lee and Carrie Gilbert Belcher. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1956 graduate of Honaker High School. He was a member of Miller View Primitive Baptist Church and had been formerly been employed by Jewell Smokeless for twenty-two years. He was a longtime farmer and also served on the Russell County Soil Conservation Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ballard Belcher, Lloyd Belcher, Dallas Belcher, and his twin, Raynard Belcher.
Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Shirley Belcher of the home; one son, Jason Belcher of the home; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Elder Garnell Gilbert, Elder Don Stacy, Elder Noah Kim Edwards, and Rev. Stephen Musick officiating. Gravside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Yates, Barry Sample, Ronnie Belcher, David Compton, Roy Sauls, Darrell Compton, Mark Smith, and Douglas Musick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Miller, Kevin McGlothlin, Scott Hart, and Larry Belcher.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday.
