Obituary for Danny Allen Wells

Mr. Danny Allen Wells, age 76, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (March 28, 2018) at his home. Born October 25, 1941 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Roy and Pearl Newberry Wells and had lived most of his life in the Swords Creek area. He was a member of the Pine Creek Pole Church for twenty years, where he had served as Assistant Supervisor and enjoyed sharing music by playing the bass. A retired coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Pittston Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Wells, four sisters, Lois Lambert, Delora Elkins, Marie Corns, and Clercy Wells, and six brothers, John Wells, Frasier Wells, Jess Wells, Claude Wells, Estil Wells and one infant brother.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Betty Whited Wells of the home; three children, Michelle Parks and husband, Darrell of Cleveland, Virginia, Roy Wells and wife, Rhonda of Swords Creek, and Kim Smith and husband, Nat of Raven; three grandchildren, Shonda Wells, Brianna Bailey and husband, Zac, and Colten Parks; three great-grandchildren, Keaton Smith, Rhett Bailey, and Gray Bailey; two sisters, Anna Pearl Miller and Ruby Brown and husband, Stanley; one brother, Kyle Wells and wife, Ruby; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Daniel Richardson, Rev. Dennis Richardson, Rev. Carter Wells, and Rev. Jess Whited officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Nat Smith, Darrell Parks, Colten Parks, Zac Bailey, Keith Whited, Kenny Robinette, and Denny McClanahan.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Pine Creek Pole Church.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
