Obituary for Rollie "Sonny" W. Ray

Mr. Rollie W. “Sonny” Ray, age 75, of Stafford, Virginia, passed away Thursday (March 1, 2018) in a Fredericksburg, Virginia hospital. Born July 17, 1942 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Clarence and Martha Barton Ray. A 1961 graduate of Council High School, he spent his early life in Buchanan County and had resided in Stafford for the past several years. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith and had been a member of the Carpenter’s Union for the past ten years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Elieen Phillips, Lorrene Rasnake and Zada Breeding and one daughter-in-law, Christina Ray.
He leaves behind his wife of fifty-five years Sue Ray; one daughter, Tina Crabtree and husband, Charles of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two sons, Chris Ray of Orange, Virginia and David Ray and wife, Michelle of Florida; three grandchildren, C.J. Crabtree and fiancé, Chelsey, Amanda Ray and Casey Ray; two great-granddaughters, which were the loves of his life, Brooke Crabtree and Hailey Crabtree; two brothers, Darrell Ray and wife, Evelyn of Lebanon, Virginia and Lester “Leck” Ray and wife, Dreama of Davenport, Virginia; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Charles Crabtree, C.J. Crabtree, Kevin Childress, James Ray, Jackie Ray and Rodney Ray.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM.
