Mr. Lonnie Eugene Ball, age 60, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (February 27, 2018) in a Big Stone Gap nursing facility. Born November 6, 1957 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Helen Compton Ball of Council, Virginia and the late Ryland Eugene Ball. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith and was a 1976 graduate of Council High School. He was a self-employed farmer and mechanic, and in his spare time, enjoyed playing his guitar and reading his Bible, which he was never without.
In addition to his mother, survivors include three sisters, Patty Harrigan of Kingsport, Tennessee, Ronda Bostic and husband, Charlie and Janet Bostic all of Council; three brothers, Leslie Ball and wife, Carleen of Fletchers Ridge, Kennie Ball and wife, Lisa of Council, and Marlie Ball and wife, Jennifer of Stinson Ridge; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Guy Harris, Rev. Edward Tiller, and Rev. Wendell Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Family Cemetery on Fletchers Ridge, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Harrigan, Jordan Ball, Ethan Ball, Jared Bostic, Eric Ball, Jeremiah Ward, Josh McGlothlin, Seth McGlothlin, and Elisha Ball.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of Venia Chapel, Men of Free Christian Church, Elmer Ball, Rick Breeding, Gerald Davidson, Jeff Mathis, Larry Viers, Gary Sullivan, Harlan “Ben-bo” Davidson, Jr., and Terry Arrington.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Wednesday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
