Mr. Randal Eugene Austin, age 61, of the Council Mountain Road section of Council, Virginia, passed away Saturday (February 24, 2018) at his home. Born February 4, 1957 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Trula Mae Hess Austin of Grissom Creek, Virginia and the late Hampton Eugene Austin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Christian faith and a 1975 graduate of Council High School. He had formerly been employed as a coal miner and more recently by Bailey and Wells. He was a collector of stamps, old coins, and antiques, and also enjoyed working on vehicles. He was a generous friend to all that knew him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Wendell Austin.
In addition to his mother, survivors include one daughter, Heather Greer and husband, Tracy of Butler, Tennessee; one son, Patrick Austin and wife, Jennifer of Grissom Creek; four grandchildren, Kadence Austin, Trenton Greer, Parker Greer, and Tyler Griffin; one sister, Myra Rasnake and husband, Dave of Grissom Creek; several cousins and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Bennie Harris and Rev. Troy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Austin Cemetery at Venia, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jason Austin, Mark Austin, Charlie Bostic, Frank Cook, Bobby Elswick, and Mike Kiser.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Austin, Gregory Austin, Joseph Austin, Rick Hale, Perry McGlothlin, and Ronald McGlothlin.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday.
