Geneva Owens, age 81, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (February 1, 2018) in Maple Grove Health Care in Lebanon, Virginia. Born March 24, 1936 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Stella Perkins Owens. A lifelong resident of the southwest Virginia area, she was a member of the Free Christian Church on Big A Mountain, Virginia. She was a master crafter and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and various other needlework.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Beulah Lockhart, Lura Sutherland, Ruth Asbury, and Elmer Owens. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Bill Asbury, Paula Rowe and husband, Ralph Rowe, Jr., Randy Sutherland and wife, Patsy, Linda Shubert, and Danny Lockhart and wife, Mary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Edward Tiller officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday.
